John J. McGarvey, of Coram, on September 3, 2022. Loving husband of Eileen P. McGarvey for 33 years. Proud father of Allyson (Eric), Ann, and Kathleen McGarvey.  Dear brother of Elizabeth McArthur (Jeff) and sister-in-law Catherine Grzymala.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.  John retired from the SCPD after serving his community for 41 years. He was also a first responder at TWA Flight 800, and the attack on the World Trade Center.  John served his country as a Lt. Col. in US Army during the Vietnam war and continued in the reserves for 29 years.

He loved vacationing with his family, and enjoyed watching Sunday NFL games with his wife. He admired the cowboy lifestyle as an active member of East End Regulators. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 8, 2022, from 3:00 – 8:00 PM at the McManus-Lorey Funeral Home, 2084 Horse Block Road, Medford. Funeral Mass will be Friday, September 9, 2022, at 9:30 AM at St. Sylvester R.C.
