Frank Fren, age 89, of Medford, New York, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026. Born on September 27, 1936, in New York, NY, Frank led a life marked by service, compassion, and dedication. As a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War Era, he embodied the values of courage and commitment, later becoming a proud member of the Blue Knights NY.
Frank was a devoted caregiver, spending many years as a nurse at the Northport VA Medical Center, where he touched the lives of countless patients with his kindness and expertise. He leaves behind a loving family, including his sons, John Fren and Frank Fren, along with their wives, Janet and Laura respectively. He is also survived by grandsons Kevin and Justin Fren and his cherished sister, Dolores Savio.
In honor of Frank's life and legacy, visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the McManus-Lorey Funeral Home in Medford, NY. A prayer service will take place that evening, offering friends and family an opportunity to reflect and share memories.
The funeral service will follow on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the McManus-Lorey Funeral Home. Interment with honors will follow at Calverton National Cemetery, where Frank will receive the respect and dignity befitting a veteran.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Frank's memory to the Toys for Tots Foundation, honoring his spirit of giving and love for children. Frank Fren will be deeply missed, yet remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Frank was preceded in death by: his wife, Sharon Fren: his father, John Fren: and his mother, Laura Fren.
