Obituary

Christina "Chrissy" Weitzman, 42, of Manorville, New York, passed away on September 15, 2026, after a battle with lymphoma.

Born on April 9, 1984, in Queens, New York, Chrissy was strong, funny, hardworking, and deeply devoted to the people and animals she loved. She worked as a housekeeper at NYU Langone and was a proud member of 1199. She took pride in working hard, but the role she was proudest of by far was being Leila's mom.

Leila was the center of Chrissy's world and the source of so much of her happiness and laughter. Chrissy loved making Leila laugh, especially by tickling her until she could barely stop laughing. Some of their best moments were simply spent having fun together, whether they were going to the movies, playing UNO, or doing their one-color shopping challenge, where they would pick a color from a hat and head to the store in search of edible things in that color.

Of all the occasions to celebrate, Leila's birthday was Chrissy's favorite. Trips to Adventureland became part of those special memories. More than anything, Chrissy wanted to see her daughter grow up, be successful, go to college, and build a life she loved.

Chrissy also had a lifelong love for animals, especially dogs. Her beloved Mojo was her first baby and held a special place in her heart, and her Chihuahua, Daisey, was another treasured part of her life.

She loved the beach, tacos, pineapple pizza, going to the movies with Leila, R&B, Selena, the Backstreet Boys, and Donnie Wahlberg. These are the ordinary things that made Chrissy Chrissy, and they will continue to bring memories of her to the people who knew and loved her.

Family extended far beyond names on a family tree for Chrissy. Through Leila, she shared a lasting bond with the Ocasio family and remained an important part of their lives. She was especially close with Luis and Jess Ocasio and their children, Lucas and Lucille, who shared many years of family memories with Chrissy and Leila. She also shared a special connection with Leila's grandmother, Maria Ocasio, with whom she remained very close, as well as Iris Ocasio, Susan Ruiz, and Angela Heredia. These relationships surrounded both Chrissy and Leila with an extended family built through years of love, connection, and shared life.

Chrissy also leaves behind her mother, Diane Woolhiser; her nephew, Tristan Weitzman; and her aunts, Joan Baillargeon and Susan Baillargeon. She will also be deeply missed by her good friend and NYU Langone colleague, Michelle Ortiz, as well as the many friends, coworkers, and loved ones whose lives crossed hers.

She was predeceased by her father, Gary Woolhiser, and her beloved dog, Mojo.

Chrissy's life was far too short, but the love she gave her daughter will continue far beyond it. Leila will carry her mother with her in the memories they made, the laughter they shared, the traditions that belonged only to them, and in the hopes Chrissy had for the woman her daughter will become. She will also be surrounded by a family who knew and loved her mother and who will continue to carry those memories alongside her.

And when life feels overwhelming, Leila will always have the words her mom wanted her to remember:

"Take a deep breath. You can do it. Don't give up."
